JAYSON UPPAL

DEVELOPMENT

Building community support starts with building trust. The development partner a community selects must have the community’s best interest at heart.

Jayson has devoted his career to confronting climate change and building a more livable, equitable planet. He believes that clean energy infrastructure should be locally rooted and that the economic benefits of the transition must stay within the communities where projects are built. Guided by this vision, he has developed and implemented energy policies, programs, and products that expand access to clean energy while driving community wealth.

Jayson’s experience spans work with governments, utilities, and developers. Before joining CDP, he served as Senior Director of Products and Markets at PosiGen, a residential solar company committed to making solar accessible to underserved communities. There, he led the design and launch of new products—including the first clean battery-backup lease available to low-income customers.

Earlier in his career, Jayson led the Solar and Storage Product Growth team at National Grid, focused on expanding clean energy access across the utility’s service territory. His team secured regulatory approval for several groundbreaking initiatives, including a community solar program projected to deliver $240 million in bill savings for 180,000 low-income customers, a low-cost flexible interconnection framework for solar projects, and a new billing mechanism that simplifies community solar participation and reduces risk for low-income households.

Jayson lives in East Boston with his family and recently served on the Community Advisory Board for the neighborhood’s Climate Ready Plan. He holds an MBA and a Master in Environmental Management from Yale University, and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Tufts University.
